The value of people (Photo source: Tom Spiglanin)
The "value of people" today... well this is a topic that can be viewed in so many ways. What means "value" and how is related to "people" ?

Which is the basic List of Values to consider that each person is valuable ?

However, there is no disputing the fact that we need people in every way. And EVERY person is valuable and should be treated as such.

It is part of our devaluing people which has resulted in the criminalizing of so many activities.

How many people jail because of non-offending offenses that values the subjective argument that some crimes are bad and hence the people who commit them are bad and are devalued to zero.

The same thing happens in politics where 'the will of the people" is not observed, thereby devaluing them to zero.

People and their ideas and their beliefs must be valued and respected. And people in our everyday lives must be valued as well.

People's personal and cultural value are our greatest asset as society. People are essential and fundamental to the existence to any community, society, country.
People's value ... such an important issue!

"He who does not feel his friends to be the world to him, does not deserve that the world should hear of him." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

It is perfectly right to say that "every person is valuable and should be treated as such" but also counts as all people to be educated to think this way and act accordingly.

I'd like to believe that each individual has a percentage of qualities and flaws , in a sort of unknown balance. All it needs is just some proper time and approach to reveal all of them and, eventually, become understood and accepted by society so accustomed and eager to put labels on people.

It seams that our society and system washed people' brains since childhood and "patterned" us so well that often we are willing to put labels whenever the other person is different to us because, unconsciously but obviously, is making us be aware of our inner limits.

It is hard to accept the novel as long as anything new (either good or bad), unknown or simply different* is demanding from our side patience, curiosity, involvement to get to know and understand that person, offer a chance to reveal itself.

So why to take the effort when we're so comfortable behind our prejudices and "reliable walls", when we have on hand such an accessible tool and easy way - to stick a label putting people on categories based on gender, skin color, religion, social status, financial status and so many others.

I consider that every human being has its own value regardless the fact that, on a smaller scale, for each person the other one has value as long as we give it.

The things people say of a man do not alter a man. He is what he is. Public opinion is of no value whatsoever.

"The hope of free man in a frightened world is the values which man puts ahead of inventions when his back is to the wall. These values are beauty, truth, goodness and having a faith, all of which are bombproof." - Ralph W. Sockman
